Winter is cold and dry, and my skin is prone to dehydration, sensitivity, and even cracking. What should I do?
1. **Gentle cleansing**
– Avoid using strong oil-removing cleansing products, choose **mild amino acid cleansers**, the water temperature should not be too hot (warm water is best), and reduce the number of face washing (once in the morning and once in the evening).
– If you wear makeup or sunscreen, you need to use makeup removers to clean thoroughly, but avoid excessive friction.
### 2. **Enhance moisturizing**
– Winter skin care products need to be more moisturizing, choose creams or lotions containing **hyaluronic acid (hyaluronic acid), ceramide, glycerin, squalane** and other moisturizing ingredients.
– Dry skin is recommended to use **oil-in-water type** cream (such as Kiehl’s Ultra Moisturizing Cream), and oily skin can choose a light moisturizing lotion.
– After washing your face, apply moisturizing products immediately while the skin is slightly damp to lock in moisture.
### 3. **Hydrating and repairing**
– Apply a **moisturizing mask** 1~2 times a week (avoid applying it every day, which may cause overhydration), or use a moisturizing essence as a primer before applying a cream.
– If your skin is sensitive and red, you can choose repair products containing **Centella asiatica, B5 (panthenol), and allantoin**.
### 4. **Sunscreen is essential**
– Ultraviolet rays (especially UVA) still exist in winter, and the snow will also reflect ultraviolet rays. You must insist on applying **SPF30+ PA+++** sunscreen to avoid photoaging.
### 5. **Avoid excessive exfoliation**
– Skin metabolism slows down in winter, so reduce the use of scrubs or acid products (such as retinol, fruit acid) to avoid damaging the skin barrier. If exfoliation is required, it can be done once every 1 to 2 weeks.
### 6. **Environmental moisturizing**
– When turning on the heating or air conditioning indoors, put a **humidifier** to increase the air humidity to prevent the skin moisture from evaporating too quickly.
– When you are outdoors for a long time, use a scarf to cover your face to prevent wind, but avoid direct contact of wool and other materials that are easy to rub with the skin.
### 7. **Diet and lifestyle**
– Drink plenty of water and eat foods rich in **Omega-3** (deep-sea fish, nuts) and **Vitamin C/E** (citrus, green leafy vegetables) to help skin repair.
– Avoid staying up late and drinking too much, which will aggravate dry skin.
What to do if your skin has special conditions in winter?
**Cracked lips**: Use lip balm containing beeswax and petroleum jelly, and do not lick your lips.
– **Redness and sensitivity**: Stop using functional products (such as whitening and anti-aging), simplify skin care steps, and use medical dressings to relieve.
– **Cracked or peeling skin**: Apply a layer of petroleum jelly or thick cream (such as Uriage Bandage Cream) overnight for first aid.
### Misconception reminder:
– ✖ Oily skin does not need moisturizing in winter (still needs moisturizing, choose refreshing type).
– ✖ Use oil products instead of cream (it is effective to replenish water first and then oil).
